Art of Manolis Patramanis.

He was born in Heraklion, Crete in 1965. Since 1983, He has been studying pottery and working with clay and it’s multitude of techniques and participated in various artistic and commercial exhibitions locally and abroad. He has been also occupied as an instructor, teaching pottery to professional training schools and been a founding member of the cultural group “Keramon” which is dedicated to the support and strengthening of this ancient craft. In 1988 he has created his own workshop in Iraklion, Crete where he lives and works till today.

Description

A rectangular shape, sheltering faces in the background lined up vertically or horizontally. The idea for the concept was triggered by the image of a big elevator full of anonymous people, people asphyxiating form the proximity, restricted, overcrowded. Faces are made with clay colored with metal oxides and stain these are the basic materials we use to give a shape to their ideas and concerns.  The ceramics are fired in electric kilns from 12 to 24 hours at temperatures of 1065ºC to 1280ºC.
